TULSA - Crews are expected to have all three lanes of Interstate 44 open between Peoria Avenue and the Arkansas River by Saturday afternoon.

It has been months since drivers could use that stretch of road without lane restrictions.  However, not all the work is done.

Motorists should be alert to crews and equipment continuing the work in this corridor. Overall completion is tentatively scheduled for early 2013.

Drivers are urged to use caution as traffic adjusts to the new route, especially where eastbound traffic tapers to two lanes west of the Lewis Avenue junction.

Continued closures include:

  • Peoria Ave. is narrowed to one lane in each direction at the I-44 junction. Expect delays.
  • Newport Ave. is closed at the westbound frontage road (north of I-44).
  • Traffic entering eastbound I-44 from north or southbound US-75 must yield to I-44 traffic.
