SAPULPA, Okla. -- A juvenile is facing charges in the shooting death of a Creek County man.

Roy Lavon Varnell Sr., 64, was shot and killed at his home near Drumright in August. Officials say he was with his 12-year-old and 8-year-old grandchildren when he was shot.

Investigators say Varnell was shot as he sat in his chair at his home near Highway 33 and 449th West Avenue.  There were no signs of a forced entry but deputies said it's possible the doors were unlocked.

The children were not harmed.

Creek County District Attorney Max Cook would not release the juvenile's name, age, gender or relationship to Varnell nor would Cook say what charges the juvenile is facing.
