JENKS, Okla. - An officer with the Jenks Police Department died after training with a small group seeking employment at the Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics, OSBN spokesman Mark Woodward said.

Officer Juan Legaretta was in Oklahoma City Tuesday applying for a position at the OSBN when he started feeling ill around 10 a.m. during physical testing, Woodward said.

Legaretta’s condition got worse at the facility and he was transported to a local hospital where he later died, Woodward said.

Legaretta served with both the Jenks Police Department and in the U.S. military in Iraq.

No one else at the training complained of feeling ill.

Woodward said, “It’s a very tragic situation.”
