JCPenney is opening its doors earlier this year to kick off the holiday shopping season.
The Texas-based chain announced this week it will be opening most of its stores at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving evening, the same time as rival Macy's.
Last year JCPenney didn't open until 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
JCPenney is also bringing back a tradition it ditched last year -- it will give away nearly 2 million of collectible Mickey Mouse holiday snow globes.
That giveaway begins at 4 a.m. on Black Friday.
