CUSHING, Okla. - According to the Payne County Sheriff's Department, the Dripping Springs housing addition northeast of the city of Cushing was evacuated earlier Monday due to a grassfire in the area.
The homes in the area were threatened by the fire around 4:30 p.m. located near the Norfolk and Deep Rock Rd. intersection.
The Cushing and Yale fire departments responded to this fire and another grassfire northeast of Yale. Officials say both fires have been contained.
Residents were allowed back to their homes around 7:30 p.m.
Authorities with Cushing Fire Department say they will be watching hotspots throughout the night.
