TULSA - Time to break a leg.
Film director John Wells is looking for some camera-friendly faces by way of an open casting call in Tulsa Saturday.
Wells is looking to fill non-speaking roles from "a variety of people" for his upcoming film "August: Osage County", featuring Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Tulsa Promenade. The call was originally to be hosted at the Parkview East ballroom at the DoubleTree Warren Place Hotel, but was since moved.
The film, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play written by Oklahoma's own Tracy Letts, follows the story of a Western family that comes together when their alcoholic father disappears.
“We will ask everyone to provide us with contact information and clothing sizes, and we will take everyone’s pictures,” said casting director Chris Freihofer. “The whole process should take less than 10 minutes.”
Those unable to attend the open casting call will still be able to audition. Officials ask that you submit by mail or email a recent and clear photo with your name, mailing address and all phone numbers.
Those selected to appear in the film will be notified a day or two in advance before they are needed.
All extras will be paid to appear in the film. Filming is scheduled to begin Sept. 24 near Pawhuska and Bartlesville.
Email submissions can be sent to AugustExtras@gmail.com and hard copies to August Extras c/o Freihofer Casting, 3750 W Main St, Five Park A, Norman, OK 73072.
