BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - Broken Arrow police are investigating a head-on collision that closed State Highway 51 in both directions for around three and a half hours Friday night.
Witnesses told police that a minivan was driving the wrong direction in the westbound lanes around 10:30 p.m. when it collided head-on with an SUV. Both vehicles were driven by adult women, police say. There were no other people in either car.
Both drivers were pinned for almost an hour before being freed by Broken Arrow firefighters. They were both transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Police say they suspect alcohol is a factor in the crash.
