TULSA - Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum spoke to Oklahomans Thursday afternoon at Oral Roberts University.
Originally scheduled as a meet-and-greet, the town hall event began with a statement by Santorum followed by a question-and-answer session.
The GOP candidate touched primarily on the economy, national security and religious freedom.
Greeting the crowd, Santorum said, "Tuesday was a good night, but wow. This is amazing."
Santorum went on to talk of the importance of the 2012 presidential race.
"I believe this is the most important election in your lifetime," said Santorum. "I wouldn't be in this race if it wasn't for Obamacare."
"He's going to do more than just change spark plugs. I believe he's going to overhaul the engine and get it running like it needs to be," Republican voter Stanley Cottrell said.
Others were not as impressed.
"We're pretty confident in our candidate. We think President Obama has progressed in his term as it's gone along," said Jonathan Townsend, ORU College Democrat.
ORU officials estimated 4,000 were in attendance, with 13,000 tuning in via live stream.
Santorum swept Wednesday's primaries, winning Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri.
