TULSA - A former Tulsa Public School assistant principal convicted of child abuse will receive his sentencing Friday.
Robert Yerton Jr., formerly an assistant principal at Skelly Elementary, was found guilty of lewd molestation and the child sexual abuse of a family member.
The jury recommended a total of 27 years behind bars.
Yerton's sentencing was originally slated for Thursday, but a one-day delay was granted after a defense request.
Yerton's defense attorney said they will appeal the conviction and questioned the trustworthiness of many of the prosecution's witnesses following the ruling.
