CLAREMORE, Okla. - Firefighters say an overnight fire destroyed a Claremore church late Saturday.
Officials say 12 agencies responded to the fire at Christ Presbyterian Church at 5th Street and Weenonah Avenue around 10 p.m.
Investigators say the building is a total loss.
"You could see some of the flames out from under the eves then if came through the roof and once it did that it got enough air on it where it was very hard to put out," Claremore Fire Department Chief Sean Douglas said.
An office connected to the church suffered smoke damage.
There was no one inside the church when the fire began.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital for possible heat exhaustion.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
