TULSA - Tulsa firefighters want to remind people that frozen turkeys and boiling oil do not mix.

Fire crews put on a demonstration at the Tulsa Fire Academy to show how quickly the oil will explode, causing objects around it to catch fire.

To use your fryer safely, put it outside in the open and away from any structure.  Make sure the turkey is completely thawed and not wet.  Wear protective clothing while you cook.

If you have any questions about how to safely deep fry your turkey, you can call the Tulsa Fire Department during business hours at 918-596-0444.
