Feed the Children rolled into Tulsa on Wednesday to help 1,200 families in need.

Families like Jessica Lawson's.

"Right now, I'm not working," said Lawson.

She also has her son, James, to think of too.

"He would have to do without a lot of stuff, if they didn't do stuff like this," she said.

The program made two stops in Tulsa. One in midtown, and one in north Tulsa.

People were able to drive up and pick up a box that contained enough food to feed a family for a week. The box also has other essentials too.

"You know, a lot of these people are just middle class, and they need a hand up. They don't need a hand out," said Abby Harris, with Feed the Children.

As for who gets selected for the program, "It's a vouchered process. We work with agencies that do know the people personally. They reach out to these people on a daily basis. They deal with them. They know them and provide them with vouchers so that they can provide to the families that they know need help," said Harris.
