TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa Fire Department, police officers, and EMSA personnel are responding to a chemical spill near the Old Dominion Freight Line at Pine and North Harvard.
Emergency crews responded to a call just before 10:00 a.m. Friday morning from Old Dominion Trucking about a spill or exposure to hazardous materials.
Authorities say a 55-gallon drum of corrosive liquid used for cleaning spilled inside the company's facility at 2921 Dawson Road. Fifteen people were exposed to the chemical.
Medical personel transported nine patients to various hospitals throughout Tulsa. Six have been treated and released.
Emergency crew members on scene decontaminated those patients before transporting them via ambulance. One patient suffered chemical vapors in his eyes. All victims are listed in fair condition.
The spill is contained and does not pose a larger threat to emergency crews or the general populace, though firefighters on scene will have to go through the decontamination process.
