TULSA - Police are investigating an overnight homicide in north Tulsa and they already have a suspect in custody.
Paramedics were called to a home in the 3200 block of North Wheeling near Mohawk Boulevard just after 2 a.m. Police were called minutes later.
EMSA initially responded for a cardiac arrest, but the paramedics found the scene suspicious and alerted police.
Police say the victim, 78-year-old Arlevia Jackson, suffered massive blunt-force trauma to the skull and face. The suspect, Antoine Jackson, is the victim's grandson.
Police say he tried to flee but paramedics held him down until they arrived.
Antoine Jackson was taken into custody, though he was hauled away in an ambulance because police believe he may have been on something. He was sedated and taken to a local hospital.
Jacksons' death marks the 12th Tulsa homicide in 2013, happening only a few hours after a shooting death.
