TULSA - The Oklahoma Department of Labor is going after a Tulsa establishment.
El Tequila, a popular Mexican eatery with a midtown and south Tulsa location, owes about $1 million in unpaid wages, according to the department.
Labor officials say El Tequila's employees were on fixed salaries and not paid overtime. The restaurant now has to pay backwages to 221 workers.
Owners of El Tequila say the findings are "pure speculation" and say the Labor investigator told them he was going to guess what the wage information might be.
