SAND SPRINGS, Okla. - The body of an unidentified man has been found floating in the Arkansas River near the Highway 97 bridge in Sand Springs.
Deputies with the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office say a woman spotted a man's body floating in the water while she was fishing about a half-mile west of the bridge around 7 p.m. Monday.
Sand Springs Police assisted TCSO in pulling the man's body out of the river. The man was partially clothed with no immediate signs of trauma, according to Captain Paul Tryon with the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies searched the river and its banks before sunset but they were unable to find anything to help identify the man.
Investigators say they have no idea how the body got in the river or how far it may have traveled.
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
Deputies are contacting other agencies for missing person's reports to help with identification.
