TULSA - A special clinic opens Saturday for patients of a dentist under investigation for unsanitary practices.
Crews are preparing to test as many as 7,000 patients of Tulsa dentist Scott Harrington who may be at risk for HIV and Hepatitis B & C, according to health officials.
More than 1,000 people have called the health department, and officials say they chose the clinic near 56th Street North and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard because it is able to accommodate a lot of people.
The clinic will be open on Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. The clinic is closed on Sunday. Services will resume starting Monday, April 1 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Patients who receive a notification letter in the mail are asked to bring the letter with them.
Officials say patients can expect the results two to three weeks after being tested.
The clinic will be at the North Regional Health and Wellness Center, located at 5635 North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
The health department urges former patients of Harrington's to call a special hotline for more information. The number is 918-595-4500.
The hotline hours are 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The hotline is closed on Sunday. It will resume on Monday. Weekday hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
