ROGERS COUNTY, Okla. -- Two are dead after an early morning crash in Rogers County near Claremore.
Just before 2 a.m. Saturday, two vehicles were traveling eastbound on I-44 Will Rogers Turnpike, when the first vehicle struck the second vehicle on the driver’s side rear, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The second vehicle, carrying five people, swerved and rolled several times, then hit a guard rail, coming to rest on its wheels. The first vehicle also struck the guard rail.
Konnie Flores, 16, and Beatric Trevino, 44, in the second vehicle, died at the scene from with head, trunk internal, trunk external, arm and leg injuries. Both were from both of Edcouch, Texas.
Flores was ejected from the driver’s side rear door about 46 feet. Officials believe neither Flores nor Trevino were wearing a seatbelt.
The driver and passenger of the first vehicle were not injured. The driver and other two passengers of the second vehicle were transported and admitted to local hospitals in good condition.
The cause of collision and condition of the driver are under investigation.
