CLAREMORE, Okla. - Family and friends will gather Friday to remember a fallen Green Country soldier.

Nineteen-year-old Jon Townsend, of Claremore, died Sept. 16 during a mission in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Seven other soldiers were killed in the same attack.

Townsend, who married his high school sweetheart just seven months ago, was scheduled to return home in a month and a half.

A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Claremore.
