OOLOGAH, Okla. - The Fellowship Community Church in Oologah is trying to find a way to replace new playground equipment before Vacation Bible School starts.
"The playground was a big deal for us," VBS director Jennie Garcia said. "It'playgros the first playground our church has had, we're a fairly new church."
The equipment took about a month to get put up with men working on different days around their normal work schedules.
VBS was supposed to be a launching pad for a new children's program for the church of about 40. Their main attraction was the new equipment.
"Our big attraction is now gone," said Garcia.
Most of the pieces are splintered beyond recognition and can't be salvaged. The main piece that is left is a slide.
"It had six anchors in it, but I guess the way it was positioned on the hill and the way the winds came through it didn't stand a chance," said Garcia.
Despite the loss, the church is going on with their VBS. They're just hoping the rain passes so they can let the kids play outside.
The church building didn't have any structure damage.
