CHELSEA, Okla. - Chelsea police chief, Jeremy Murrell was fired Friday at a special meeting.
His termination comes after allegations of doctor shopping for prescription pills. Roger's County Sheriff Scott Walton said Murrell obtained 3,000 pills from several different doctors in about a year's time.
Chief Murrell tells 2NEWS that he's been in and out of the hospital for medical reasons over the past year. And town officials confirmed that.
A former Assistant Police Chief, Tony Benton, will be the interim till they find a replacement, according to the department.
