TULSA - Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak announced Tuesday additional charges have been filed in Kay County against suspected scam artist Marshall Virden.
Assistant District Attorney Ed Goodman of Kay County filed an "exploitation of an elderly person by trick or deception."
Investigators found that Virden had manipulated an elderly Ponca City couple into giving him more than $23,000. Virden failed to exchange the couple's money into the silver he promised them.
The former Oklahoma insurance agent was arrested March 28.
Investigators believe there could be dozens of victims and many may not yet know they have been scammed.
Those who believe they have been victimized are urged to call the Oklahoma Insurance Department's Anti-Fraud Unit at (405) 521-6614 or call Deputy Commissioner Paul Walkening at (405) 919-9873.
