CATOOSA, Okla. - A Coweta man was killed after an accident near Catoosa around 8 p.m. Friday.
Troopers say two men were in a Chevy sedan headed towards Catoosa on Admiral Boulevard. The driver told troopers he swerved to avoid a deer and lost control.
Officials say the car flipped several times, end over end.
The passenger, 48-year-old James Sawyer, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"There was the odor of alcohol detected on the driver, both appeared to be wearing their seatbelts, seatbelts were on both people whenever we arrived," Trooper Andy Floyd said.
The driver is in stable condition at a local hospital.
