TULSA - Tulsa police say a speeding car ran a red light and crashed into a beer truck around 11 p.m. Wednesday.
Scattered debris from the wreck closed the intersection at 71st Street and Yale Avenue for about five hours.
Police are hoping technology will help them piece together everything that led up to the crash.
"All we've got right now is a high rate of speed but we will download the black box of the vehicle to determine speed and braking of the vehicle," said Sgt. Rex Mann of the Tulsa Police Department.
Officers say emergency crews smelled alcohol on the driver of the car. A blood test will determine if the man was drinking.
The driver underwent surgery at an area hospital. Police say his condition is "touch and go."
The driver of the beer truck was not injured.
