WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. - A Broken Arrow man is behind bars in Wagoner County for kidnapping and trying to kill his wife, authorities say.

On Wednesday, deputies were called to a home near East 91st Street South and South 257th East Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, deputies found Darla Smith Neighbors who said she was held against her will by her husband, 38-year-old Travis Brian Neighbors.

Deputies say Travis Neighbors handcuffed his wife and tried to force prescription pills down her throat.  Neighbors also allegedly attempted to suffocate his wife on multiple occasions.

Deputies say Travis Neighbors tried to escape capture but was eventually taken into custody.

Deputies found he was in possession of drugs and paraphernalia.

Travis Neighbors is currently being held in the Wagoner County Jail.  Authorities say he will likely be charged with domestic assault and battery, kidnapping, attempted murder, interfering with an emergency call, attempted escape and a number of drug charges.
