BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - A semi truck flipped off a Creek Turnpike overpass Wednesday morning, landing on the road below.
Broken Arrow Police Cpl. Leon Calhoun said the semi was already losing debris when the driver lost control of the rig, sending it down the embankment. The truck landed askew on 193rd East Avenue below the bridge.
State troopers responded to the accident around 6:30 a.m.
The driver was traveling westbound when the truck, which was carrying large car batteries, went over the edge. EMSA transported the driver to a local hospital in stable condition.
A hazmat team is assisting with cleanup but officials on the scene say there is no threat to the public.
County Line Road (193rd East Avenue) was closed under the turnpike for several hours while the scene was cleared.
