TULSA - A hotel room door covered in blood led Tulsa County Deputies to a burglary suspect who fled from an earlier scene Wednesday afternoon.
Tulsa County Sheriff's Office says a Deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description of the wanted suspect parked under the HWY 75 overpass on I-44 around 1 PM.
When the Deputy stopped and approached the car the suspect put the vehicle into drive and knocked the deputy into oncoming traffic. The Deputy then shot into the fleeing vehicle, hitting the suspect in the shoulder, according to Sheriff officials.
Deputies gave chase, but lost the suspect in west Tulsa. Witnesses then contacted authorities pointing police to Peoria Inn, a hotel in the 5000 block of Quaker just off I-44.
Police and Sheriff Deputies later found the suspect in the hotel room; a bloody door handle marking the spot. The suspect was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect's name is not being released at this time. Sherriff officials say he is wanted on several local and federal warrants.
Tulsa police are investigating the shooting to maintain impartiality.
