Bixby and Broken Arrow are once again encouraging their residents to shop locally this holiday season.
On Friday, the Broken Arrow Area Chamber of Commerce kicked off its 2012 Buy Broken Arrow campaign.
Broken Arrow residents are encouraged to shop at 80 local businesses to earn tickets for a chance to win cash prizes, including $10,000, through a drawing. The drawing takes place Dec. 17.
One of the participating Broken Arrow businesses is Main Street Tavern.
The tavern's manager, Corey Johnston, said it is the second year the business is participating in Buy Broken Arrow.
Johnston said it was a success last year and expects the same results this year.
"I think it's going to have a huge impact," said Johnston.
On Saturday, Buy Bixby kicked off.
The Buy Bixby program will run from Nov. 3 - Dec. 16, with the city announcing winning ticket numbers on Dec. 17 at a live radio remote to be held from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Sutherlands located at 15028 South Memorial Drive in Bixby. Participants have a chance to win the top award $10,000, one of four additional $1,000 cash prizes or a Cox Bundle for a year.
"We have a total of 90 businesses [participating] in Bixby. This is the largest group we've ever had in six years," said Bixby mayor Ray Bowen.
