BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A Bartlesville student accused of plotting a school shooting was scheduled for a court appearance Friday.

Eighteen-year-old Sammie Chavez is facing charges of planning to perform an act of violence.

More than a dozen items were seized from his home, including a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and writings.

Police believe Chavez wanted to lure his fellow students to the high school auditorium, chain the doors and start shooting.  Chavez allegedly tried to recruit other students to help him with the plan.

Students reported seeing Chavez researching the Columbine High School massacre and how to build pipe bombs, police say.

Chavez's court appearance was scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in Washington County. We'll provide an update when it becomes available.
