BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - Bartlesville firefighters are on the scene of a house fire at the 1600 block of Nowata Road and East Drive.
At 6:30 p.m. four fire trucks were still at the scene as firefighters were in mop-up operations after more than an hour of battling flames.
Bartlesville Fire Chief Bob Hasbrook on scene told 2NEWS the call came in shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday. The caller reported a garage was on fire.
Firefighters arrived to the scene to discover the garage, positioned and attached as the northern end of the house, was engulfed in flame as well as that end of the house.
At 5:30 p.m. firefighters were still battling flames sometimes standing as high as ten feet from the northern end of the home.
Speaking of that end, "That part is gone," Hasbrook told 2NEWS, saying the north winds played a large part spreading the fire.
"The south end will be good except for smoke damage," he said.
Hasbrook said as of yet there have been no injuries. The home was occupied at the time the blaze began.
At this point, officials say it is too early to determine the cause of the fire.
Traffic on the four-laned Nowata Road was still narrowed down to two lanes as of 6:30 Thursday evening.
