TULSA - Tulsa's famed drive-in movie theater is wrapping up its first season back in business after a fire forced its closure two years ago.
The Admiral Twin Drive-In's final weekend of the 2012 season is this Friday and Saturday.
Co-owner Blake Smith said, "2012 has been one of the best years that the business has ever had and we owe it to the great city of Tulsa for their support."
On Sept. 3, 2010, flames tore through the screen tower that had been in place since 1951. Without insurance, the drive-in's future was left in the hands of the community.
Fans banded together, helping to raise $30,000 to put toward rebuilding the icon, which was featured in Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 film "The Outsiders," based on S. E. Hinton's 1967 novel of the same name.
On June 15, 2012, the drive-in reopened to lines of cars awaiting the theater's return.
This weekend, movie-goers can take advantage of a closing weekend special. Owners Smith and Steve Peace are offering a special price of $10 per car.
Playing this weekend are the double features "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part Two" at 6:55 p.m. and "Wreck It Ralph" at 9 or "Rise of the Guardians" at 7:05 p.m. and "Hotel Transylvania" at 8:40 p.m.
