TULSA - Firefighters have extinguished a fire at Tulsa's Admiral Twin Drive-In, but not before flames destroyed the theater screens.
Crews on scene tell 2NEWS that the fire started Friday afternoon near N. 73rd and E. Easton Avenue.
Flames tore through the screens and left hardly anything but the wooden frames behind.
Firefighters still aren't sure about a cause of the fire.
Blake Smith, a co-owner of the theater tells 2NEWS that the theater didn't have fire insurance, and he's not sure if they will be able to rebuild it. Next weekend was supposed to be closing weekend. It was planned for the theater to show "The Outsiders" to end the summer season.
The Admiral Twin was featured in Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 movie "The Outsiders."
According to Drive-Ins.com:
1951 - Theatre opened as The Modernaire Drive-In
1952 - Theatre added a second screen and changed name to Admiral Twin
