Alleged stun gun abuse of Tulsa child riles community

TULSA - Tulsa police and health officials say they're still shocked over a recent violent crime against a 5-year-old child. 

Police say Phillip Hudson Jr. used a stun gun on the boy, the son of an ex-girlfriend, 20 times while babysitting him last week.

The child's doctor said the boy suffered burns to his chest, arm, leg and foot.

Police say the 24-year-old Hudson beat the 5-year-old with a piece of wood, like a yard stick, before switching over to a stun gun.

Authorities were first notified by a Eugene Field Elementary teacher when the child  complained of pain in his arm and shoulder. He's now in the custody of the Department of Human Services. 

Sandra Ward, a neighbor of Hudson who admits she doesn't know the man, is shocked at the allegations against him.

"It's a horrible thing, it's a horrible thing ... He should be put away," she said.

Fortunately, the boy's doctor doesn't expect any long-term effects, but will be conducting tests on his heart.
