Accident on I-44 in Tulsa leaves one man dead

A man in his 50's is dead this morning after he was hit by pick-up last night.

The highway patrol says the man was trying to cross I-44 near the Peoria exit around midnight.

The driver of the truck told troopers he didn't see anything before his windshield was smashed.

He pulled over.

The unidentified victim died at the scene.

A contributing factor was the lack of lighting on the interstate.

One lane of I-44 westbound was closed for more than an hour.

The driver was not cited for the accident.
