Tulsa ranks high among nation's literate cities

TULSA - A new list of America's most literate cities was released Thursday morning and Tulsa was given an impressive rank.

Central Connecticut State University looked at factors including a city's number of book stores and libraries, newspaper circulation, Internet resources, educational attainment and number of magazine publishers.

Overall, Tulsa is America's 21st most literate city.

Tulsa scores highest on library resources ranking 12th in the nation and the city scores high in magazine publishers at 16th place.

Oklahoma City is tied for 49th in the overall rankings.

Washington D.C. came in first at number 1 while Bakersfield, Calif. came in last at 75th.
