GUTHRIE, Okla. - Folk music fans can buy tickets Friday to the Gentlemen of the Road Stopover festival in Guthrie scheduled for Sept. 6 and 7, one of the state's biggest music events of the year.
Tickets, $109 for the two-day festival, went on sale at 11 a.m local time.

The Grammy-nominated band Mumford & Sons, who put together the five-stop tour, chose Guthrie as one of only three U.S. stops.
The band picked the former Oklahoma capitol over several months, according to the festival's website.
"We spent months selecting unique places, creating venues, building the lineups, planning the aftershows, and getting to know the local people who helped make the whole thing work," the bandmates wrote.

Local residents say it's Guthrie's small town charm and character that won the musicians over. Now the city is only months away from showcasing those same assets to thousands from across the country.
"The phones haven't stopped ringing off the hook since we made that announcement," said Cody Mosley, director of economic development for Guthrie.
And busy phones mean big business for the city, Mosley said, who referred to a similar event in Virginia last year that he said pumped $4 million into the local economy.
