TULSA - An employee on break from Bama Pie Company was the victim of an armed robbery early Thursday morning.
Police were called to the 27th and Sheridan location just before 3 a.m.
The female victim told officers she was on a smoke break when a man approached her and asked for a cigarette. She handed him a cigarette and turned to walk away, but he attacked her from behind, grabbing for her cell phone.
Police say a male coworker saw the attack and came to assist the victim. The suspect fled on foot with the victim's cigarette lighter.
Security officers with Bama Pie chased the suspect but lost him in the neighborhood.
A TPD canine officer later located the suspect hiding in bushes near 11th and Lewis.
Matthew Steeves, 22, was arrested for robbery by force and resisting arrest. He was booked into the Tulsa County Jail on $50,500 bond.
