Police received a call Tuesday regarding an unresponsive child. The couple told investigators an accident at home led to the toddler suffering a severe brain injury.
Furthermore, investigators observed bruises on the toddler's body, adding they had likely been there for some time.
The girl was hospitalized Tuesday in the intensive care unit. She died around 7:30 a.m. Friday.
Detectives say they are now working on presenting a homicide investigation to the district attorney's office.
An 8-month-old who also lived in the home was placed in state custody.
According to jail records, a charge of first-degree murder has been added to Bolden's offenses, though neither he nor Benjamin have been officially charged in court.
