LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Los Angeles police say three children remain hospitalized a day after a car driven by a 100-year-old man backed into them outside an elementary school.
In a statement released Thursday, police officials say all three of the children are expected to recover.
They are among 14 people who were injured Wednesday when police say Preston Carter accidentally backed his Cadillac sedan into the children and adults outside Main Street Elementary School in South Los Angeles.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and police say Carter is cooperating with them.
Carter says his brakes failed, causing him to hit the crowd.
