SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Officials in several Great Plains cities say they're sensing an economic upturn.
Sioux Falls, S.D., Mayor Mike Huether points to voters' approval of a $115 million events center as proof that residents are comfortable the city's "fiscal house" is in good shape.
Heuther says that "it's all about confidence."
The Argus Leader reports that an October report written for Texas Tech University indicates the region is positioned for continued prosperity through energy and agriculture sectors, as well as the Internet.
A sporting facility is also the hallmark of confidence in Lincoln, Neb., while a downtown convention center is being built in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Bismarck, N.D., City Commission last month approved a $25 million expansion to the city's exhibit hall. Museums have been expanded in downtown Tulsa, Okla.
