DEWEY, Okla. -

A Dewey woman is behind bars following an investigation into severe burns on her 16-month-old child, according to Dewey police.

Dewey Police Chief Mike Shea told 2NEWS that police arrested 23-year-old Danielle Lynn Connor on Tuesday morning on charges of neglect of a child and obstructing officers.

He said the investigation that lead to her arrest began Monday, when the Dewey Police Department received a call from Kansas from the Wichita Police Department about a severely burned 16-month-old that had been transported by helicopter from Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville.

Shea told 2NEWS the mother transported the child to the Jane Phillips Medical Center around 5 p.m. Sunday. The child is hospitalized in Wichita, and has second and third-degree burns on about 30 percent of the body. The child had apparently somehow gotten into a hot bathtub, said Shea.

Following the call, police and agents from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation obtained a search warrant and served it Monday on a trailer home on the 500 block of S. Osage in Dewey.

Arrested at the Dewey Police Department Tuesday morning, Connor was transported to the Washington County jail where she is currently being held.

Shea told 2NEWS more details will be released as the investigation continues.
