BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A traffic stop on a speeding pickup truck just south of Bartlesville on Monday night netted an Oklahoma Highway Patrol Officer two arrests — one on traffic charges and one on drug charges.
Arrested were Broken Arrow resident Megan Ann Temple, 21, on charges of possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of controlled dangerous substances, and Bartlesville resident, Marquis Morris, 29, on charges of driving under suspension and speeding.
During their hearings in Washington County District Court on Tuesday, the judge set their bonds to $15,000 and $1,000, respectively. Morris has since been released on bail.
According to the affidavit, shortly before 10 p.m. Monday a state trooper heading south on U.S. 75 near County Road 2700 saw a black 1998 Chevy pickup traveling northbound at a high rate of speed.
Checking the speed and finding it at 78 mph in a 70 mph zone, the trooper had the vehicle pull over. When he asked the driver for his license and insurance, he noticed the odor of burnt marijuana.
The trooper, then seeing the driver had a suspended license, arrested him and then spoke with the passenger, identified as Temple.
During a search of the vehicle, he found a bag bearing a white powder substance and many bars of Alprazolam. Also discovered in her purse a bag containing one-and-a-half ounces of marijuana, according to the report.
The trooper then placed Temple under arrest and transported both suspects to the Washington County jail.
