Ever been surprised by your credit report?

There could be a mistake in it that could cost you money or keep you from securing a mortgage or car loan.

As many as 42 million Americans have errors in their credit reports, according to the Federal Trade Commission.

Twenty million of those errors are significant.

In contrast, the Consumer Data Industry Association is hitting back, saying 98 percent of Credit Reports are accurate.

Experts suggest regularly viewing your credit report with all three major credit bureaus can help catch errors.

Take a look at your credit at AnnualCreditReport.com , the only federally authorized source for free credit reports.
