TORRANCE, Calif. (WXYZ) - Honda is recalling more than 97,000 of their Fit models from 2009-2010 because of a problem with the lost motion springs.

The company says the lost motion spring can bend or break over time, causing abnormal engine noises and the possibility that the engine can stall or suffer damage.

Honda says owners should take their car to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive a recall notification. Customers will begin receiving their notifications in early March.

Owners will also be able to find out if the recall applies to their vehicle by going online to www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (800) 999-1009 and selecting option 4.
