Wanda Armour is the winner of the Giving Spirit Award for the month of May. Below is Sharon Raines' nomination submission for Dean:
Wanda Armour teaches gymnastics to underprivileged children in North Tulsa. She has been teaching for over 35 years.
She charges a minimal amount, all of which is for equipment, outfits and membership fees.
Often she spends personal money for her students to have what they need. Her husband also volunteers to build props and drive around as well as work concessions and car washes to support these kids.
Rhythmic Distinction Gymnastics may be a profit organization, but she hardly gains any profit from it.
She taught me in Cleveland, OH when I was 16 in 1976. She has helped so many kids with their self esteem and she has trained many teenagers to teach others in a gym or dance studio. I love what she does and hope that she gets the recognition she so deserves.
Each month, someone in the Tulsa viewing area will be awarded for his or her volunteer spirit - someone who has made a difference in our community.

It would be an urban legend arising out of the Oklahoma City tornadoes of May 20, if not for the fact that it happened on television.
