Sustainability is a top priority for many companies worldwide, and Mercedes-Benz goes the extra mile to develop cleaner, more efficient vehicles. With an innovative approach, Mercedes-Benz has been an eco-conscious automotive manufacturer for years, long before many companies embraced environmentally friendly techniques.
Blue-sky thinking has led Mercedes-Benz to shoot for the stars, especially with its eco-friendly innovations. The automaker has manufactured the first 100-percent CFC-free car and the first low-emission SUV by using award-winning factories and processes. In addition, developing local infrastructures around the world helps ensure that Mercedes-Benz will maintain its commitment to the environment for years to come.
It takes a team effort to create sustainable mobility while also being a leader in luxury, performance and safety, and Mercedes-Benz has gone above and beyond to exceed many automotive expert and driver expectations. The company is dedicated to a cleaner tomorrow, which is reflected in several recent initiatives.
For example, half of the patents Mercedes-Benz earned in 2010 were for green technologies. The global benefits of green technologies come from a unique combination of intense devotion and extensive diversity, and Mercedes-Benz constantly explores sustainable solutions.
The automotive manufacturer has also unveiled fuel-cell vehicles in the past that further showcase its devotion to the environment. Its fuel-cell models have traveled roughly 2.8 million miles, and Mercedes-Benz also has four electric vehicles in production, with 5,000 units in use.
In March 2013, Mercedes-Benz debuted its all-new 2014 model year B-Class Electric Drive at the New York International Auto Show. The B-Class Electric Drive, coming soon, has a high-torque electric motor for completely emission-free driving. This model also displays the innovation, integrity and style that make Mercedes-Benz vehicles amazingly fun to drive.
"The B-Class Electric Drive meets the wishes of many customers for emission-free driving without foregoing the hallmark attributes of a Mercedes-Benz, namely safety, comfort and, of course, not to forget exhilarating driving pleasure," said Dr. Joachim Schmidt, member of the Mercedes-Benz Cars Board of Management responsible for Sales and Marketing.
Finding ways to help the environment is old hat for Mercedes-Benz, and the B-Class Electric Drive is just one of its models that display this automotive manufacturer's commitment to the environment. Affordable, flexible and renewable Mercedes-Benz vehicles are available worldwide, and more models could be unveiled in the near future as Mercedes-Benz continues its eco-friendly approach to automotive manufacturing.
