TULSA - Police warn of an uptick in thefts from front porches this time of year.
Some thieves will follow FedEx or UPS trucks through neighborhoods picking up packages right after they are delivered.
The crime has been dubbed "porch pirating."
To protect yourself either be sure you can be home for delivery or ask a neighbor to keep an eye out for package deliveries and take your goods inside for safe keeping.
You can ask a signature be required to make a delivery or send your package to a retail location for you, or you can list another recipient to pick them up in person.
If your employer allows it you can have your packages sent to you at work.
The Postal Service estimates $16.5 billion in merchandise will be shipped in the month before Christmas.
