OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- An Oklahoma appeals court has upheld the life prison sentence for a 51-year-old woman convicted of fatally stabbing a man after an argument over a bulldog.

The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals handed down the decision Thursday in the case of Carmile C. Sulvetta. Sulvetta was convicted by a jury in Tulsa County of the Dec. 11, 2009, death of Guy Gilmore Jones.

The appeals court's decision says evidence collected by authorities indicates Jones was killed in an apparent burglary of his home in which several items, including a bulldog puppy, were taken. It says Sulvetta was involved in a dog breeding arrangement with Jones.

In addition to the life prison sentence for first-degree murder, the court's decision says Sulvetta was sentenced to life for conspiracy to commit a felony.
