It’s time to get your STUFF together and make sure the rest of the year feels as smooth and organized as possible.
GET RID OF STUFF and REORGANIZE
How much STUFF is taking over your home? Seriously, people…I try to stay politically correct in these articles but it is getting out of control.
I work with people all the time who have garages full of STUFF, that after a little bit of work we determine that 90% of it is trash. So, why do we continue to bring all of this STUFF into our lives?
Let’s start this spring by letting go of ANYTHING that hasn’t been touched or used in 2 years. I am being easy by saying this because 2 years is a long time, but go for it. (An exception to this purge will be pictures, letters and any family related documents that can have emotional significance.)
If you need help with this, I am here to answer any questions you might have. Email me at ocd@ocdexperience.com and I will get you started.
TIME TO CREATE DISCIPLINE
At O.C.D. Experience we teach our clients how to maintain discipline in organization. It is amazing how much something changes when you add discipline to it.
Add discipline to your work and see how it affects your performance.
Add discipline to a relationship and see how many people stop cheating.
Add discipline to your eating habits and see how much weight you lose.
Use discipline to regulate your life by setting limits for yourself. If there is something you are ignoring in your life that is coming out through excessive buying, disorganization, weight gain, STOP and use discipline to get down to the root of the problem. All of these other distractions are just going to continue to hide the problem.
Therefore, add discipline to organization and see how much simpler your life becomes.
CLOTHING SWAP
Some of us have plenty of closet and drawer space, leaving us the freedom to keep more than one season of clothes accessible at all times. But, some of us live in tighter spaces and are forced to send our seasonal wardrobes on a vacation.
So, let’s use 2011 to cut down on everything surrounding us in our lives starting with our clothing. Since spring is the “official” time to purge and reorganize let’s start by throwing out old underwear, socks, and sleep wear.
We all have these items, with some bearing the title favorites, because they are so comfortable, but now is the time to say goodbye.
Continue through your wardrobe and start packing bags full of old items and bring them to the donation center of your choice.
If you have little space in your closet it’s time to bring out your spring and summer clothes and send your fall gear away.
Don’t forget to keep a few fall items accessible for those cold spring/summer evenings.
