Texting, emailing, instant messaging – they are all convenient and quick ways of communicating with the one you love. Quick and convenient, but endearing and well thought out? Maybe not!

Try taking a step back in time and share your romantic feelings the old-fashioned way, with a pen and paper.

When is the last time you quietly sat down and wrote a real love letter to the person that means the most to you? You know the kind of letter where you pour your heart out and say all the things you either haven’t had time to say, or have been meaning to say but couldn’t find the right moment.

Better yet, when is the last time you received a love letter?

Maybe you’ve never even written one. So, here’s your chance. It doesn’t cost a dime and could be the most romantic gift you could give on Valentine’s Day, or on any other day for that matter.

Buying a card is easy. Even if your words aren’t poetic, there is nothing quite like a heartfelt, soul-bearing, ‘I just have to tell you’ letter.

It’s not always easy to get emotional. Truth be told, it can get a little awkward, but if you’re really in love, writing a letter can be easier than trying to spit out the right words face-to-face.

You don’t need to follow any strict rules when you write your letter either. You’ll just want to make sure it’s from your heart, that you mean every word and that your handwriting is legible. If you can’t read it, only then should you type it up on the computer. We’ll forgive you for that one.

Be forewarned, if you’ve only been dating for a week, you might want to opt-out of the handwritten pledge of undying love. It could really backfire on you. So save this time-tested expression of love for at least a few months down the line.

Tell us about the best love letter you've ever received in the comments section below!
